In 2019, PennDesign (University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design) partnered with the School of Social Policy & Practice to launch a new program—the Executive Program for Social Innovation Design, or XSD.

The goal of XSD was to attract designers and social sector professionals to the program. Each would be given the skill set that they lacked but the other possessed—designers would learn to tackle a social mission and social sector professionals would gain design and creativity tools—to ultimately create positive change through finding solutions to social problems that connect to their core values.

They asked Untuck to come up with a design system, a viewbook that would primarily live in the digital space, and a landing page.

Since all of the initial pieces would live online, we embraced a bright, high-contrast RGB color palette.

We were designing for designers (always a dream come true), so we went with bold, beautiful serif typefaces mixed with more straight-laced sans serifs.
